About the Author

Dr. Ashley Firby is a native of Windsor, Ontario and now calls Diamond Valley her home. Ashley graduated from the University of Windsor with a knowledge of biological sciences and then furthered her education in Chicago, where she completed her optometry training at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2008. While in Chicago, Ashley also participated in a mission trip to Mexico.

Ashley’s training included rotations at the Detroit veterans affairs (VA) hospital, the Battle Creek VA hospital, and the North Chicago VA hospital. It was during her last rotation when she was exposed to research on macular degeneration. Subsequently, Ashley received training in complex contact lens fits at the Kresge Eye Institute.
